Catch all the biggest sporting events this Christmas season
Whilst grassroot sport slowly winds down in the run up to Christmas and the new year; there are still plenty of opportunities to watch your favourite athletes compete all around the world. Whether you will be watching from the comfort of your own home with a mince pie or two or down at the pub with friends and family, you won't want to miss a minute of the action. In this article, we will be having a look at some of the incredible sport on show during this festive season.
The Ashes
- When: December 2021-January 2022
- Where: Australia
Can the T20 World Cup champions continue their success and keep the travelling English team at bay? A fresh faced English squad will be looking for their first Ashes Series victory Down Under in a decade. Joe Root and his men will have a tricky task ahead of them, trying to beat Australia in their own backyard. There seems to be constant shifts in momentum in the lead up to the first Test: Archer needing surgery, Stokes getting injured, Australia winning the T20 World Cup, Stokes coming back to fitness, Tim Paine stepping down as captain and a player, Jimmy being unavailable for the first match. With over a month of test cricket in store expect mind games, hostility and pure determination straight from ball one.

F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Championship Finale

- Where: Yas Island
What a year it's been in F1! After Hamilton's domination over the last few years, we've finally got a race on our hands. Can Verstappen's Red Bull hold off Hamilton's Mercedes to claim his first World Championship? There's no doubt there'll be some last minute drama! If the races in the last few weeks are anything to go by, the only thing to be certain of is that both will fight to the bitter end. There will be mind games galore, with talks that Max might put in a fresh engine and take the grid penalty to ensure top speed on the straights, it is a must watch finale to top off a truly remarkable season.

Boxing Day Football

Of course it wouldn't be boxing day without a bit of football! All twenty Premier League teams are in action on Boxing day.
Teamo's top games to watch:- Gerrard's Aston Villa hosts Chelsea. Chelsea have stumbled slightly in recent weeks but hopefully the return of their target man, Lukaku, can bring some much needed fire-power to their front line.
- Leeds face a tough test away at Anfield as Klopp's Liverpool keep up their pursuit of the top spot.
- Leicester might be sitting mid-table but fans are hoping that they put up a good fight against Pep's in-form Man City who are in flying form.
- Crystal Palace beat Spurs 3-0 earlier this season. They'll be looking for more of the same in the return fixture. It will be a gritty London derby where tensions will flare.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year
- When: 19th December 2021
- Where: Salford, MediaCity
After a bit of a crazy year on and off the sporting pitches and courts, there are some big names in the running to win SPOTY.
- Marcus Rashford was part of the England team that reached the Euro 2020 final and became the youngest person to top The Sunday Times Giving List. His work off the pitch was truly inspirational as he fought tooth and nail to make the government provide food during lockdown for families and children that relied on eating at school.
- Emma Raducanu was the first ever qualifier to win a grand slam at 18 years old at the US open. Her incredible power and poise captured the hearts of the nation as millions urged her on to be the first British grand-slam winner since Virginia Wade in 1977.
- Tom Daly won his first Olympic gold medal whilst keeping the nation entertained with his knitting abilities. His bubbly personality and determination should earn him a few votes!
- Adam Peaty dominated in the swimming pool in Tokyo before donning the sequins on Strictly. He is possibly the most relatable swimmer ever as he used to be scared of water with the irrational fear that a shark might somehow enter a swimming pool.
- Tyson Fury claimed another famous victory over Deontay Wilder in the final fight of the trilogy series. The gypsy king remains in possession of the WBC heavyweight title. He has also been a huge voice supporting men's mental health and talked openly about his past addictions and struggles.
